What is IVF?

  1. FSH/LH/E2 level

  • Stimulation

In this step, the fertility expert will give you injections involving follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and sometimes a combination of two. The doctor will do an ultrasound of the vagina and blood test to ensure the quality of the eggs.

Egg Retrieval

The doctor will give you a sedative.

  • The doctor will insert a thin needle through the vagina and in the follicle for retrieval of eggs.
  • The doctor either uses a transvaginal method or abdominal ultrasound method to retrieve the eggs.

Sperm

The doctor will take the sample of the sperm to check whether the sperm is having a good quality or not. The doctor recommends masturbation to the patient or testicular aspiration. In some cases, the doctor recommends donor sperm will help the couple in getting good news.

Fertilization

After collecting the eggs and sperms from the couple the fertility expert will fertilize in the laboratory. Fertilization can be done with two processes such as conventional insemination and ICSI i.e intracytoplasmic sperm injection.

Transfer of embryo

After fertilization, the doctor will wait for the embryo formation. After two to three days the doctor will transfer the embryo to the uterus of the woman.

Pregnancy test

 After completing the procedure the doctor will wait for two weeks and then check whether the woman is pregnant or not.
